Dual-core PowerPC processor announced
"In addition to the MPC8461D for embedded devices, Freescale (which was spun off from Motorola's semiconductor division) plans to make the MPC7448, which would be the successor to the MPC7447 currently used in some of Apple's products. The e600 line's low power requirements make it ideal for use in both embedded applications and laptops, and if the MPC7448 has a DDR controller, that would address one of the largest problems with the 74xx line."
