The Design and Implementation of FreeBSD
"I've known Kirk McKusick for nearly 20 years. I'm starting off with that as a disclaimer of sorts because this is going to be a highly favorable review — this is the very best technical book I have read this year.
1989's The Design and Implementation of the 4.3BSD UNIX Operating System contained 471 pages. The 1996 The Design and Implementation of the 4.4BSD Operating System tome was 577. The Design and Implementation of the FreeBSD Operating System has added another 100 pages. The book size hasn't increase dramatically, whereas there has been great growth in the information and its importance."
