The Trouble With E-Voting
I am very concerned about the movement to put voting online and to remove the paper trail from voting. I am not alone in this concern. In a Computer World report cryptographer Ronald Rivest (co-creator of the RSA encryption algorithm) is quoted as saying "We know only too well the difficulties of securing complex electronic systems ...", "go slow," and "keep it simple," relying on paper ballots and audit trails to verify the data collected by electronic voting kiosks.".
